Welcome to Album of the Week, this is a new feature here on my blog. Music is essential to my life and I want to share my love of music with all of you. So each week I’ll feature an album that I think you ought to check out. It might be old or new, a classic or something that’s way out of left field.
Today I’m featuring Solange Knowles new album A Seat At The Table.
Released this past Friday, A Seat At The Table is unapologetically black. It’s #BlackGirlMagic. #BlackBoyJoy. #BlackLivesMatter. With all of the awful things going on in 2016, this album is much needed. It’s self-care, a celebration of individuality, self-empowerment, black womanhood, and did I mention that it’s unapologetically black?

And listen to the album itself now streaming on Spotify:
There’s also a digital book of the same name (112 pages) that accompanies the album so please head over to http://www.solangemusic.com/ to read it. In addition read Saint Heron’s Judnick Mayard’s joint interview with Solange and her mother Mrs. Tina Lawson here.
