Today marks the the third year of Star Wars Reads Day. It’s an event going on around the around the world in libraries and booksellers where folks gather and feel the power of the force through discussions and events centered around reading. StarWars.com gives a more detailed description:

“Star Wars Reads Day is an international event that celebrates reading and Star Wars. It was launched in 2012 by Lucasfilm and its publishing partners — Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK Publishing, Klutz, Random House Audio, Scholastic, and Workman Publishing. Last year, Quirk Books joined the fun, and we’re excited to have Disney Book Group participate this year.”

I went to a Star Wars Reads Day Event last year at USF and it was very enjoyable. There were cosplayers, pizza, giveaways, books to buy and trade, games, arts and crafts, and writer knights who talked to us writing padawans and gave essential knowledge about the craft.

If you’re unable to attend New York Comic Con or Geek Girl Con which are happening this weekend, you can surely attend a Star Wars Reads day event. Head over to StarWars.com and to their Facebook page for more information. In addition you can check your local comic book store, Barnes n Noble, or local paper/magazine to find an event in your area.

Have a great time and may the force with you!
